Tropical Storm Nicole

We are currently monitoring Tropical Storm Nicole, which is currently tracking towards the Bahamas and expected to be upgraded to a Hurricane by the time it makes landfall in Florida Wednesday evening.

Flights to and from Montego Bay, Miami and Tampa are planned to operate as scheduled.

Based on the currently forecast winds, we are still planning to operate Wednesday’s VS107 via NAS. If the forecast gets worse, the OCC will review the situation and may decide not to stop in NAS.

We recommend that you regularly check our website for updates as we continue to evaluate the weather.

Following the close monitoring of forecasted weather and discussions with airport authorities, Orlando Airport have confirmed that they will close the airport on Wednesday 9th & Thursday 10th November, which unfortunately means the following flights will be cancelled:

Wednesday 9th November

  • VS75 Manchester – Orlando
  • VS91 London Heathrow – Orlando
  • VS76 Orlando – Manchester
  • VS92 Orlando – London Heathrow

Thursday 10th November

  • VS75 Manchester – Orlando
  • VS91 London Heathrow – Orlando
  • VS76 Orlando – Manchester
  • VS92 Orlando – London Heathrow

What if I have a shipment booked on an affected flight?

To limit impact to our customers, we have re-routed onforwarding shipments via alternative gateways. Shipments originating or terminating in Orlando have been rolled to the next scheduled flights on 11th November.

We have added the following additional services between 11th - 13th November:

Date Flight No.  Route Dep Arr
11th Nov  VS15  LHR - MCO 13:45  22:45
12th Nov VS28 MCO - MAN 01:00 09:45
12th Nov VS27 MAN - MCO 13:45 22:30
13th Nov VS16 MCO - LHR 00:45 09:45

Strom Eunice Updates

Due to weather warnings and expected strong winds caused by Storm Eunice, we are working with airports and partners to minimise disruption but unfortunately some flights will be subject to cancellations and delays. Customers impacted by cancellations will be contacted by our teams and our tracking details online are up to date.

We’re grateful for customers’ understanding while our teams work to re-establish our programme and provide support at airports.

Operational Update: South Africa – No change to Cargo Services

I am sure that you will have seen or read in the media that yesterday evening, Thursday 25th November, the United Kingdom Government announced that South Africa, along with a number of its neighbouring countries, have been added to the UK’s red list for passenger travel.  In response to this we can confirm that Virgin Atlantic Cargo’s services to and from Johannesburg will continue to operate on a daily basis on Boeing B787-9 aircraft, with no interruption to cargo service.

The above position will remain subject to UK Government approval to allow crews to continue to travel to and from South Africa, and this will remain under constant review.  Further communications will be issued should the situation change.

Thank you for your ongoing support.  If you have any questions please reach out to your local team.

New secure cargo requirements - effective 6th September

Due to a change in the UK regulations, with effect from 6th September 2021, all secure cargo moving between regulated agents will have additional notification requirements placed upon them.

Movements and deliveries of insecure cargo are not affected by this change.

All secure cargo, whether it be delivered into one of our gateways such as LHR or MAN or those consignments being delivered into one of our domestic trucking hubs, must meet the new regulations by sending, as a minimum; shipment details (awb or CN38 number), anticipated delivery date and the emergency contact details of the sending regulated agent. These messages must be sent to the receiving regulated agent. In the case of Virgin Atlantic Cargo in the UK, this will be dnata.
